Hi there
I’ve had a bad problem with Aphids in my green house last year. My question is will the aphids lay dormant in the dirt? Should I be treating the dirt or adding anything to it so I don’t have the same problem?
Any advise you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Aphids will lay dormant on plants or in the soil. When treating for a local problem, it’s best to apply some material to the pot soil to insure they aren’t using it to breed or hide. So during the warm season, be sure to treat all the soil surrounding the plants and over time, you’ll establish control there as well as on the plants. This way you won’t have to do anything special or different to the soil in the off season. By following the treatment schedules listed in our aphid control article you’ll be able to keep the entire green house aphid free.
